What a terrifyingly good evening we had at the Chessington Junior Chess Club Halloween Blitz on 27/10/25! The atmosphere was buzzing with fancy dress, fast play, and a healthy dose of spooky strategy.
🥇 Tournament Triumphs and Terrifying Talent
The competition was fierce, but one player truly stood out:
• Gold Medal Champion: Huge congratulations to Ethan, who showcased incredible speed and focus to win the tournament and claim the coveted gold medal!
• Silver Success: A fantastic performance also goes to Gavin, who battled hard to earn the silver medal.
• Bronze Brilliance: Rounding out the medal winners was Eden, who proved that skill and style go hand-in-hand by also claiming the bronze medal.
• Best Dressed: Speaking of style, a big shout-out to Eden again for also winning our prize for the Best Fancy Dress! The creativity was chilling!
🧙♂️ Spooky Surprises and Strategic Secrets
The night wasn't just about the competition; it was also about learning something spooky! We delved into the devilishly fun Halloween Gambit, an aggressive opening where you sacrifice a piece for a powerful attack. We also enjoyed a hair-raising demonstration with a Spooky Simultaneous Display led by Mr. Briscoe.
The night's biggest riddle was solved by Kayley, who correctly guessed that Mr. Briscoe was dressed up as a Magician! What a magical evening of chess!
